I had the Chicken pox just a week ago…

It had been a few days already that I felt weak and sick… At first I just thought it was due to my low carb diet that I felt weak, exhausted and shaky all over. Then I woke up with a big bump on my inner thigh. I got Scared and immediately showed it to my Mom. My mom who already has gotten used to my paranoia of getting sick, just laughed and said “its an ant bite, don’t worry”. I swore it was not an ant bite but she just said pray that its not chicken pox! Duh!

So I went down and showed my bump to my cousin who had Herpes Zoster or more popular as “Shingles” just 2 weeks ago. She said she is not sure but said it looks like chicken pox alright. Then we started searching for Chicken Pox symptom’s on her PC. I saw that “shingles” was listed under same category as chicken Pox. I told her if this is really chicken pox, then I must have gotten it from her since it says here shingles and chicken pox are caused by same virus. She said it’s impossible because her doctor had said that shingles is not contagious. Later I found out that shingles is really not contagious as “shingles” but it is contagious as “Chicken Pox”! What a dumb doctor! I don’t know if she really didn’t know about this or just too damn irresponsible to let her patients know!

After the confirmation of my disease I wanted to die. Why?

  1. I am really paranoid when it comes to sickness and diseases. I think I have Phobia!
  2. My husband (Sajid) was out of town and could not return in a short notice thus I had no one to watch over me and baby-sit me…hehehe…
  3. I had work at office and was doubtful if somebody could handle.
  4. Our Sick leave benefit at office was still under negotiation and I didn’t want to go a whole week (or even two) without salary!

I am really glad now that I got through my illness without any major problems. Everything worked out just great.

Another thing that was bugging me was my look and scars I might acquire but thanks God It’s all gone now without leaving any permanent scar. Just a few brown spots which I guess will disappear in few weeks time.
